The sanctuary of Lourdes open all year round even during the winter, however during the winter months their is no torchlight light  processions and most shops close for weeks and some even months, but the Grotto remains a place of spiritual enlightenment. Lourdes follows the footsteps taken by Bernadette "Go drink at the spring"  Requested by the Virgin Mary during one of the apparitions that took place at the grotto on Thursday 25th February 1858.

Lourdes is a journey taken by pilgrims with a purpose which is different for everyone and once taken will remain a strong and unforgettable experience through out their life.

The sanctuary is owned and administrated by the Church.  The Sanctuary includes the statue of the crowned virgin Mary, the Grotto, the baths which are situated just further along from the grotto, the crypt which was the first church, the upper basilica also known as the Basilica of the Immaculate conception, Rosary Basilica the 3rd building to be constructed in the Sanctuary and the church of Saint Bernadette which faces the grotto and was blessed by the church in 1988.
